Maintenance | Naramata Inn

We are seeking an experienced and hardworking handyman to oversee the grounds and general maintenance at Naramata Inn. Reporting to the hotel manager or supervisor, you will be responsible for all upkeep and repairs including maintaining green spaces, identifying the need for repairs, responding to clients’ maintenance requests, and servicing company equipment.

What you’ll do:
The Brass Tacks

  • Outdoor tasks such as cutting grass, trimming bushes, weeding, and leaf blowing
  • Using and maintaining landscaping equipment such as lawn mowers, clippers, and blowers, among others
  • Cleaning cobwebs and ensuring that outdoor ledges of the restaurant patios are free from dust
  • Installing doors and shelves, assembling desks and repairing furniture
  • Performing minor repairs to the interior and exterior of the building to ensure that it is well presented
  • Be able to drive an automatic truck and dispose of yard waste at the local landfill, procure any supplies required by Housekeeping / Maintenance from our preferred suppliers
  • Communicating with Front Desk and Housekeeping staff regarding room and facility maintenance
  • Helping the Housekeeping team perform any additional tasks, if required
  • Reporting any issues to the front desk or housekeeping supervisor
  • Perform basic tasks including painting and filling crevices, clean facilities, and maintenance repairs
  • Understand the policies of the Inn in regards to scheduling, client possessions, and privacy
  • Maintaining an inventory of all supplies and ordering as required
  • Following and completing checklists daily

The Nitty Gritty

  • Must be physically capable to lift heavy equipment and work outdoors
  • Must have physical endurance to work an 8 hour shift
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently or with a team and take instructions from a senior person
  • Clear communication and good people skills
  • Must abide by all applicable safety procedures and building regulations
  • Prior experience in building maintenance is required
  • Organization & time management skills are a must
  • Reliable transportation to work location
  • Must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s license in good standing
  • Clean criminal background check required
