Greenstone Gold Mines L.P. is a 60/40 joint venture partnership between Equinox Gold and Orion Mine Finance Group formed for the purpose of the joint ownership and development of the Greenstone Gold Property including the Greenstone Mine located on a historical mine site in the Geraldton-Beardmore Greenstone belt in Ontario. The Greenstone Mine is managed directly by a dynamic and experienced Owner’s team, with an estimated $1.5 Billion investment over the three-year construction and commissioning phase, and a 14-year operating life of mine.
Greenstone Mine is seeking a Mine Operations Drill and Blast Supervisor to join our team. Reporting to the Mine Operations Superintendent, the Mine Operations Drill and Blast Supervisor is responsible for the safe and efficient drilling & blasting operations. They will also be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the fuel & lube truck, stationary fuel island, pit dewatering and any other secondary support equipment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:
Advocate company safety values and protocols through positive leadership.
Ensuring crew compliance to legislation and operating standards.
Collaborate with other supervisors, trainers, and department leaders to develop operating procedures and safe work instructions.
Conduct and document daily safety audits and production reporting.
Perform and document inspections of all work areas.
Conduct weekly compliance audits of operating procedures and safe work instructions.
Investigate all near misses, incidents, and equipment damage as a top priority.
Participate in daily planning, assess plans, and dispatch equipment & personnel appropriately to achieve production targets,
Manipulate schedules to ensure both mine & maintenance plans are followed
Coordinating & prioritizing equipment repairs with the maintenance team.
Manage scheduling and training of the workforce to limit delays in the utilization of availability.
Monitor equipment utilization against targets and adjusting as required.
Prepare drill patterns, in accordance with site policies & procedures
Ensure the quality of drilled patterns (collar location, drilled depth, angle, and diameter).
Review the designed blast timings.
Monitor consumables, actively participate in continuous improvement programs.
Oversee the operation of secondary equipment, such as pumps, light towers etc.
Read and maintain drill production targets
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
In-depth knowledge of Ontario legislation.
Self-motivated and safety conscious.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
Ability to work independently as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Candidates must demonstrate good verbal and written communications skills.
Proficiency in language of operation.
Advanced knowledge/expertise in drilling & blasting principles and techniques.
Strong leadership skills and ability to create a positive work environment.
Demonstrates strong attention to detail.
Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
Strong analytical skills.
Willing to adapt and work in an inclusive work environment.
EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
High school diploma/General Education Development (GED) or combination of education and pertinent work-related experience.
Minimum of 10 years open pit mining, must include:
Minimum 1 year as a blaster’s helper
Minimum 3 years of drilling with down-the-hole tooling (DTH)
Minimum 2 years of supervising experience
Able to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions
