POSITION: Skilled Trades
UNIT: Maintenance
STATUS: Full-Time
START DATE: Immediate
SALARY RANGE: $28.82 - $30.63 per hour
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Skilled Trades position provides quality services for operating and maintaining a Healthcare facility in
accordance with the established procedures. Also provides quality maintenance services to the hospital
equipment, facilities, and grounds. General maintenance ability is required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a valid Provincial Certificate of Qualification by the Ontario Ministry of Skills and
Development for the Province of Ontario of one of the related trades: electrician, millwright, plumber,
HVAC, biomedical engineer, carpenter.
2-3 years previous maintenance/skilled trade experience plus the required hours to complete the
apprenticeship program Knowledgeable in electrical, plumbing, mechanical with utility equipment
preferred
Knowledge of boilers, controls, pumps, diesel generators, water treatment, compressors, auxiliary
equipment preferred

POSITION-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
Ability to work independently and as a team member
Responsible for prioritizing and completion of duties in a timely fashion
Identifies environmental opportunities to improve conditions/efficiency of operations
Operates machinery, equipment, and power tools in a safe manner
Able to work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
Assist contractors during construction projects as required.
Maintains building temperatures
Performs boiler tests and building checks daily
Lead, support or participate in key activities or action plans as identified on applicable Operational Plans
HOURS OF WORK: 0700-1500 or 0900-1700; Weekends as per rotating schedule. Must be able to take after
hours on call as per rotating schedule.
