Job Summary

The Equity Capital Markets division, a team of analysts covering approximately 250 companies, has a solid commitment to investment research, investment banking, and institutional sales and trading. Associates play a critical role assisting in all tasks required for the Equity Research Analyst to stay abreast of market events with the end-goal of providing sound investment judgement on particular stocks to clients. Individuals in this role are continuously learning and developing their investment analysis and securities evaluation skills in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment. We are looking for an exceptional candidate who has exemplary writing skills and is an excellent communicator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with analysts to conduct thorough analysis of the industries and targeted companies; and
  • Participate in due diligence requirements including interfacing with corporate executives, conducting site visits, analyzing industry and company data, developing and maintaining financial models, writing research, and verbal presentations to equity sales/trading personnel and institutional clients.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of

  • Fundamental investment concepts, practices, and procedures used in the securities industry; and
  • Accounting and financial analysis principles.

Skill in

  • Demonstrate advanced face-to-face, email, videoconferencing, and telephone etiquette and relationship management skills;
  • Financial modelling; and
  • Microsoft Office with a willingness and ability to learn new applications.

Ability to

  • Work within deadlines in a high-volume and demanding environment while maintaining a high level of service and an imperative attention to detail;
  • Demonstrate advanced face-to-face, email, videoconferencing, and telephone etiquette and relationship management skills
  • Quickly grasp new concepts;
  • Work long hours when necessary to meet time-sensitive deadlines;
  • Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment;
  • Demonstrate a professional manner to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization; and
  • Communicate proficiently in French is an asset.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements

  • An undergraduate/postgraduate degree, preferably in Business, Economics, or Engineering.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Completion of or willingness to work toward the CFA designation.
