Project Manager

Remote Based - Canada

Reporting to the managing partner for the Canadian region and indirectly the business area lead for EPC, the project manager will work with our clients, sales, and engineering teams to plan, budget, coordinate, and oversee a broad range of capital projects and process improvements.

We focus on our customers stated needs and desired outcomes, while maintaining focus and discipline on scope, cost, schedule, quality, and safety.


Primary Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage project development in conjunction with all key stakeholders.
  • Assist in defining project scope, goals and deliverables that support the clients’ objectives in collaboration with all key stakeholders.
  • Work with the design team, alongside client representatives from engineering, operations, and food safety, in developing full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members, general contractors, and customer stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project outcomes.
  • Review and approve all project progress billings, including materials, equipment and work completed.
  • Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
  • Determine and assess need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments as necessary during project cycle.
  • Track project milestones and deliverables.
  • Prepare and present monthly project financial forecasts
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations
  • Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project

Education/Experience Requirements

  • A degree or diploma in engineering, construction/project management (or equivalent combination of academic and work experience) is preferred
  • Hands on experience supporting small to large capital construction projects (agri-foods, dairy, beverage, or life sciences industires preferred).
  • Familiarity with construction technologies, project and financial management, as well as relevant building codes, and construction contract administration.
  • A working knowledge of scheduling applications (MS Project)
  • Ability to travel 30%

Qualifications

To qualify for this position a candidate must be able to perform each of the primary tasks and responsibilities as well as meet the Education and Experience requirements. The individual must have strong communication and presentation skills, be capable of maintaining customer relationships and always conduct their activities and interactions in a professional manner.

30% travel is required for this position.
