Description:

The Call Centre Representatives will work at the Employee Safety Call Center (previously called the Provincial Radio Control Center), which is a small Call Centre responsible for monitoring employees that work in isolated environments. This can range from people like Park Rangers, Peace Officers, etc. The Call Centre Representative will receive inbound inquiry calls and also make outbound calls to check in on people that they are responsible for monitoring. The employees that are overseen by this call center are responsible for checking in every couple of hours. When a check-in is missed, the SCO is responsible for reaching out to the person to make sure that everything is okay.

Desk set-up:

- 3 - 4 screens to utilize 8 - 12 different databases on a daily basis depending on the type of call they get

  • Monitoring the Radio
  • Monitoring 3 phone lines

Day to day responsibilities will vary. Below is a list of the different types of calls that they can expect to make and receive:

  • Interval check in calls
  • Inbound calls from peace officers or other law enforcement to run license plate numbers
  • Inbound calls from citizens to file reports/complaints if they see someone violating rules on public land or parks
  • Calls regarding after-hours forest fire monitoring
  • Calls regarding SPCA livestock (these calls are regarding abused or neglected farm animals)

The SCO will be trained on how to receive different types of calls, support, and escalate as needed. This is a complex CSR role that requires extensive training and will lead to a permanent position if performance is adequate.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

MUST HAVES:

  • 2+ years of call center or dispatch experience within the last 4 years
  • Able to handle complex calls and stressful/emergency situations
  • Internal Allegis communication skills, must be extremely polished
  • Intermediate with Microsoft applications like Outlook, Word, Excel

  • Tech savvy and able to work with a very modern triple+ monitor set up
  • Must be willing to submit to all required checks

- Able to work rotating shifts 7 days/week 24/7 (6;30am - 2:30pm, 2:30pm - 10:30pm, 10:30pm - 6:30am shifts)

NICE TO HAVES:

- Recent experience in an emergency management/emergency response work environment - Ie. Roadside assistance, emergency/medical dispatch

  • Radio communication experience
  • MacEwan Emergency Response and Communications Program graduate

SOFT SKILLS:

  • Ability to problem-solve in a resourceful manner
  • Ability to use sound judgment to make decisions
  • Ability to keep calm under emergency/stressful situations
  • Ability to handle feedback in a receptive manner and implement the feedback
