As an integral member of the Hotel’s Executive Team, the Director of Human Resources manages the direction and administration of the HR Department within the hotel. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this position makes recommendations to ensure competitiveness, effectiveness, and consistency within the HR function to ensure the Hotels goals are achieved.

What are we looking for?

  • Previous HR leadership experience in a Canadian hotel required.
  • ADP experience considered an asset.
  • Previous Hotel/Hospitality experience, also critical to the successful candidate.
  • Positive attitude a must, and someone who enjoys the occasional chocolate chip cookie would be seen as a positive.
  • Excellent communication and people skills, also a must.
  • Committed to delivering a high level of service, both internally and externally.
  • Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations.

A typical day may include:

  • Planning and managing all functions of team member relations including; recruitment and selection; benefit and compensation administration; continuous learning, training and development; performance management, coaching and counselling and health & safety.
  • Fosters positive team member relations and helps to provide a exceptional climate for continuous and effective employer-team member relations within the hotel.
  • Provides Department Heads with the necessary support for continuous learning, training and development of their team members.
  • Promotes and organizes regular team member performance development reviews in all departments of the hotel.
  • Participate and direct hotel action plans based on the result to the Team Member Engagement Survey.
  • Develops, plans and coordinates Human Resource programs within the Hotel in accordance with Company Human Resources policies, practices and procedures.
  • Advises and ensures compliance with local legislation concerning team members and working conditions.
  • Makes recommendations to the Executive Team on all people related issues.
  • Assists with the successful running of the Take Care Committee.
  • Handles all accident/illness related (WCB) administration, filing reports, managing claims, monitoring and implementing RTW programs.
  • Maintains the accuracy and integrity of the Human Resources Information in ADP.
  • Control costs when possible and assist in meeting hotel/departmental financial targets.
  • Ensure pay reviews are done frequently.
  • Work with local organizations and schools to promote the hospitality industry.
  • Manage investigations and resolutions of team member and management queries.
  • Helping the GM with anything else that comes up, affecting our PEOPLE.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: From $90,000.00 per year
