This position is a float role that supports Nutrition care across all inpatient areas of St. Michael's Hospital, including our ICUs, GI/Gen Surg, Heart and Vascular, GIM, Trauma Neuro, Respirology, and Oncology units.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The role of the Clinical Dietitian is to provide evidence-based, high quality, specialized nutritional care unique to each individual as part of their medical treatment to improve or maintain health
  • This position may include coverage to surgical, medical and critical care areas
  • Able to work effectively as a member of an inter-professional team, collaborating with other disciplines to provide comprehensive patient care
  • Contributes to the academic mandate of the organization as an educator, resource or support for staff, students and members of the academic and professional community
  • Identifies and addresses educational needs for patients and their families
  • Demonstrates commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Is committed to, and participates in, program development, evaluation and ongoing quality improvement in the organization
  • Provides patient care in accordance with all professional and organizational standards
  • Provides education and counseling for patients receiving nutrition care.
  • This position provides coverage for absences on inpatient units, and support with managing caseloads across various areas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have graduated from an accredited and recognized program with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Human Nutrition, or equivalent
  • Must be currently registered and in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario (CDO)
  • Current CPR (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skills
  • Proven flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent time management, organizational and prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to and involvement within the profession
  • Must be competent to work independently in critical care areas including our MSICU, TNICU and Cardiac ICU settings

Must be willing to work evenings and/or weekends as directed by the Program
