About This Opportunity

The Department of Psychiatry of Dalhousie University and Mental Health and Addictions, Central Zone, Nova Scotia Health (NSH), has an excellent opportunity for a family physician (FP) to work on the general psychiatric units within the Mental Health Program.


Responsibilities

The position would involve a unique team approach to inpatient care where Mental Health Hospitalists provide comprehensive, compassionate high-quality care, which involves patients as active participants in their own care. All aspects of the position would require the FP to work with multi-disciplinary teams in an enthusiastic manner with the capacity for self-direction.

Qualifications

The successful applicant will have the following qualifications:

  • Medical degree and current registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain clear records of patient evaluations and clinical thought process
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
  • Must be eligible for medical staff privileges with the Nova Scotia Health Authority

Remuneration commensurate with qualifications and experience and is based upon a highly competitive Alternative Funding Plan.
