About the Company:

Dalmeny Daycare Inc. is a non-profit corporation that offers childcare in Dalmeny, Saskatchewan. We are a small government licensed and subsidized centre that provides care to children from 18-months to 6 years old.

Role Overview: Dalmeny Daycare is seeking a highly organized, self-motivated and energetic new Daycare Director for our centre! We are located in the small town of Dalmeny, just a short drive from Martensville, Warman, and Saskatoon. Our daycare is located in a brand-new facility and strives to provide high- quality childcare that supports the positive physical, cognitive, social and emotional development of young children. We are seeking a leader for our centre who can foster a nurturing environment for children, families, staff and community.

The Daycare Director will report to the Dalmeny Daycare Board of Directors which is comprised of volunteer parents and community members.

Although the successful applicant will need to be willing to work towards their ECE Level III certification, we welcome all applicants who have experience working with children, managing staff, and are willing to grow into the position. The start date will be approximately March 27th, 2023, but the exact date will be agreed upon with the successful candidate. We offer a competitive compensation package that will be dependent on the successful applicant’s qualifications with opportunity for annual wage reviews.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing the centre in compliance with all applicable regulatory bodies (Ministry of Education, Employment Standards, Occupational Health and Safety, Workers Compensation Board, etc.)
  • General management of day-to-day operations of the centre, including ensuring adequate staffing, meal planning, activity programming, managing budgets/supplies, etc.
  • Researching and applying for eligible programs, grants, fundraising opportunities and additional sources of funding for the centre.
  • Ensuring all staff are trained, up-to-date, and actively engaged in practices to ensure a high level of child development, safety, and wellbeing.
  • Providing a high level of leadership to centre employees, including regular coaching and feedback, mentorship, fostering professional development and growth.
  • Recruiting well qualified employees, as well as being responsible for training, and providing orientation to new staff.
  • Effectively engage in active and positive communication with parents to create an atmosphere of collaboration in their child’s progress and wellbeing.
  • Support the board with coordination of several administrative functions, such as managing staff scheduling, time sheets, attendance records, childcare contracts, receipt tracking, payroll, budget monitoring, annual licensing, etc.
  • Effectively manage conflict where it may arise amongst staff members and/or parents.
  • Support the board in the general oversite of the daycare, including attending board meetings and AGM, providing support in budget creation, advise on policy, and other duties assigned by the board.

Qualifications:

· Two Year Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE level III) at a recognized college or equivalent, or a willingness to obtain. (required)

*Note: We are willing to support a successful candidate in earning certification while employed in the centre if the candidate’s skills and experience are the best fit for the position.

· Experience working with young children in a childcare or educational setting (required)

· Valid First-Aid/CPR (required)

· Current Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check (required)

· Computer skills, such as working with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and other basic programs (required)

· Additional skills in accounting software, such as Quickbooks (asset)

· Management/Leadership experience (asset)

· Safe Food Handling Certificate (asset)

· Knowledge and understanding of Saskatchewan Childcare Legislation and Policy (asset)

· Experience in record keeping (asset)

· Experience in social media and advertising (asset)
