Position

We are currently looking for an experienced Custom Shop for our day shift. This position is responsible for the construction, refinishing, repair and installation of Kitchen & bath cabinets at our facility. Essential duties, responsibilities and requirements include but are not limited to the following:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure that safety policies, housekeeping rules and guidelines, quality standards, and standard operating procedures are followed
• preparing custom ordered components within required timeframes and meeting company standards for quality using various machines including table saw, mitre saw and hand tools.
• Measure and machine parts using various machines, including but not limited to, table saw, band saw, chop saw and other machines and hand tools as required
• Adjust machine measurements according to work orders
• Inspect raw material to meet Quality Standards and ensure parts are free from damage including marks, knots, curves and dents
• Assemble machined wood pieces in to custom order parts according to work orders
• Remove excess glue from assembled custom parts and sand custom parts to meet quality specifications
• Transport completed custom parts with work order to the Finishing or Assembly Departments as required
• Operator is responsible for light maintenance of the equipment including cleaning the machine and workstation
• Provide help to other workstations or any other duties as requested by direct supervisor

Training is conducted on the day shift for 3-4 weeks before working the afternoon shift. Full training is provided. We offer a shift premium of $1.50/HR for the afternoon shift.

Position Requirements:

• Prior experience in the woodworking industry is a definite asset, including the use of woodworking machinery such as saws and hand tools, training is provided on the day shift if needed.
• Must be able to read work orders, shop drawings and other forms that provide job information and direction.
• Must be detail oriented, and be able to shape wood precisely following dimensions using machine tools.
• Must be flexible to work additional hours as required including Saturdays.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
• Ability to lift 20-70 lbs.
• Wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, ear protection, safety shoes, gloves and any other protective equipment deemed necessary.
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
