Communications & Marketing Specialist

Position Overview
The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Communications & Marketing Specialist. Reporting to the Manager, Communications, the incumbent is responsible for developing, implementing, coordinating and evaluating marketing and communications plans and strategies for the organization. The incumbent develops, designs, and edits content for a variety of communications platforms; coordinates media relations; develops and implements communications, marketing and event plans; social media management; regular website maintenance and updates; advertising; and online public engagement activities.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a University Degree in Marketing, Communications or a related discipline from an accredited educational institution and a minimum of 2 years’ related experience in communications. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Possession of a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence is required.

Additional Information
This is a unionized position. $38.19 per hour - after Probation (Jan 2022 Rate), based on a 35 hour work week. The wage level for this position is subject to confirmation under a union/management jointly negotiated job evaluation plan.
