Co-op Opportunity – Transportation Analyst Intern

Contract Duration: 12 Months (September 2023 to August 2024)

Rate of Pay: $22.27 per hour

Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton
Hours of work: 35 hours per week; Monday to Friday

Overview
:
The qualified student will be responsible for assisting several major transportation planning initiatives. If you are currently enrolled in a relevant University or College Co-op program and seeking an opportunity with an award winning and progressive organization this may be the opportunity for you.

In this role you will :
  • Develop and apply of the Region’s Travel Demand Forecasting Model.
  • Undertake in-depth research and analysis to support long range transportation planning studies such as multi-modal transportation master plans, goods movement initiatives, and other related studies.
  • Implement the Transportation Planning Data Analytics Strategy.
  • Respond to requests for information.
  • Support environmental assessment studies for road improvements.
  • Support planning and engineering projects, including document preparation.
What we Require :
  • Currently enrolled and demonstrated strong interest in Transportation Planning, Engineering or Economics program.
  • Knowledge of the fundamental theory of transportation planning/engineering, statistics, and economics.
  • Ability to research and analyze economic, social, and environmental impacts on transportation.
  • Ability to conduct statistical analyses and develop/maintain databases.
  • Capable to work well individually and in a team environment.
  • Excellent in report writing, verbal and written communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent in Microsoft Office Applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Quick to learn new computer software. Knowledge of ArcGIS, EMME, and Aimsun is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Transportation Tomorrow Survey and Cordon Count is an asset.
