Job Summary

The Chief Financial Officer directs the organization's financial planning and accounting practices as well as its relationship with lending institutions, shareholders, and the financial community. The CFO studies, analyzes and reports on trends, opportunities for expansion and projection of future company growth through a financial team. Other duties and responsibilities include:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Directs all functions pertaining to financial accounting, gaming accounting, strategies planning & analysis, and cage operations

· Directs the preparation of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, reports to shareholders, tax returns, and reports for government and other regulatory agencies

· Reviews reports to analyze projections of sales and profit against actual figures, budgeted expenses against final totals, and suggests methods of improving the planning process as appropriate

· Develops policies and strategies for all areas of financial operations

· Responsible for receiving and cashiering activities for all areas of the Resort

· Responsible for budget requirements and preparation and control of the Resort accounting records and reports

· Oversees and directs treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, real estate, and insurance activities for the organization

· Provides and directs procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records and to afford adequate accounting controls and services needed for the entire property

· Directs activities as custodian of funds, securities, and assets of the organization

· Appraises the organization's financial position and issues periodic financial and operating reports

· Directs and coordinates the establishment of budget programs with all department leaders

· Analyzes, consolidates, and directs all cost accounting procedures together with other statistical and routine reports

· Oversees and directs the preparation and issuance of the corporation's Annual Report

· Directs and analyzes studies of general economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on the organization's policies and operations

· Oversees and guides payroll accounting functions

· Leads, manages, and trains finance team as required or needed for overall success and results within the department

· Complies with all AML/ATF policies and procedures

· Performs other duties as deemed necessary in support of goals and objectives

Supervisory Responsibilities

Leads and manages an accounting team, oversees Casino Cage and Soft Count departments. Uses fair and equitable treatment of all employees on policy, procedures, and overall operations. Trains and develops teams to build and obtain results and yield internal and external customer satisfaction.

Qualifications and Requirements

To perform this job successfully ideally you have over five years in a ‘for profit’ organization, preferably in the hospitality sector, plus.

· A CPA designation

· A minimum of five years of financial management experience with increasing responsibilities for multi-faceted direction and planning

· A minimum of five years of accounting supervisory experience

· Above average knowledge of Excel, databases, and business software applications

· Superb verbal and written communication

· Excellent analytical skills

· And excellent organizational skills

The incumbent must obtain and maintain approval from the Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Authority of Manitoba.
