JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager, Liquor and Cannabis Revenue, the Cannabis Revenue Analyst is responsible for ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and integrity of financial accounting and reporting under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for cannabis revenue.


The portfolio primarily consists of revenue accountabilities and financial administration of cannabis revenue. AGLC operates an online platform for the sale of recreational cannabis to licensed cannabis retailers and directly to consumers. As this is a complex business line, the successful candidate will require an understanding of full cycle business processes and possesses a high degree of thought innovation. This will enable a thorough assessment of the transaction flow of the revenue cycle and the impact to other areas to recommend solutions and implementation of approved solutions.


This position will support management in the development of controls, procedures, and policies for this business line. The Cannabis Revenue Analyst is accountable to ensure that established procedures are adhered to during the execution phase. Responsibilities include identifying and resolving all errors and anomalies which often involves research, analysis, reconciliation, and adjustment of financial information. Documentation of points of weakness and areas of improvement is also required to plan for the evolution of this business line.


This role is involved in advocacy and education of internal stakeholders to ensure optimal performance and outcomes. Relationship management is required with external stakeholders which including AGLC licensed providers, cannabis retail stores, and consumers. All of which requires a thorough knowledge of business operations as it relates to and impacts the portfolio.


The successful candidate requires a strong foundation in processes, procedures and information systems to enable the development of a customized solution for cannabis. Given the complexity and public interest in this business line, is it critical that AGLC maintains the highest duty of care to mitigate potential risks and to provide choices Albertans can trust. Strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines is required. This position also requires strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.


SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Minimum of a two year diploma in a related field, plus two years of related experience.
  • Working towards a CPA designation would be considered an asset.
  • Must demonstrate experience working with Excel, Power Query, Tableau, and/or Power BI
