Sensors & Software Inc. is recognized worldwide as an innovative manufacturer of ground penetrating radar (GPR) instrumentation and software. We develop GPR systems and software for numerous applications, ranging from utility locating to infrastructure inspection to geological and environmental assessment. Sensors & Software has recently joined Radiodetection and is part of the Detection & Measurement segment of SPX Technologies.


We are looking for a buyer to join our team in Mississauga on a permanent basis. You will be responsible for sourcing and procuring materials and services for the company. The goal is to find high quality vendors with acceptable costs and manage these relationships. You will work closely with the Quality Engineer to resolve any issues.


Main duties of the buyer falls into four main areas:

Planning:

  • Identify assemblies and raw material reaching below minimum stock levels.
  • Assist in setting up annual KPI and cost reduction targets.
  • Work with the greater SPX team on Strategic Sourcing Projects.

Procurement:

  • Purchase parts needed for open work orders, always trying to anticipate demand and sourcing best buy opportunities.
  • Purchase parts based on NetSuite ERP minimum level shortages and sourcing best buy opportunities.
  • Identify changes needed in the minimum levels in NetSuite ERP system.
  • Manage vendor on-time delivery and set up vendor scorecards.
  • Participate in QC issues with vendors.
  • Execute standard purchase requisitions assigned from other parts of the company, this means helping identify supplier, negotiating price and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Participate in purchase contracts; this means helping identify supplier, preparation of contracts, negotiating price and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Inform management on large purchases that impact cash flow management.
  • Maintain all purchase information (supplier/MSDS/NDA/etc.) and keep up to date.

Warehouse Management:

  • Keep work area clean and organized, ensuring all warehouse and production isles are kept clear.
  • Ensure stock fits on shelf and shelves kept organized.
  • Completion of inventory count cycles.
  • Storage of items into inventory location after the QC process.
  • Help receive incoming goods.

Kitting and Outsourcing:

  • Pull items required for the assembly of work orders for sub-contractors.
  • Identify inventory shorts and report immediately.
  • Identify opportunities to outsource and save labor costs.
  • Deal with the PCA sub-contractors to ensure kits are complete, delivered and populated boards received back on time.

Main Requirements for the Buyer:

  • Strong negotiating a supply chain management skills.
  • Quality and veracity of all documentation emanating from production and communication to other team members when communications and documentation are not up to standard.
  • Good communication skills as you will be dealing with both internal and external stake holders
  • Document work order process, including: Inventory usage changes; Documentation errors; Suggested improvements; Assembly problems.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Components, Electro-Mechanical, PCBA’s and Turnkey Assemblies and the ability to interpret mechanical drawings are assets
