Buyer

Raywal is a well-established Kitchen & Bath Cabinet manufacturer located in Markham and has been in the industry for over 60 years.

We are currently seeking a Buyer with 1-3 years of experience in procuring raw materials for the woodworking or furniture industry. This individual will possess a manufacturing background and utilize their knowledge to purchase all materials used in the kitchen manufacturing process, including: hardwoods, ply woods, exotic woods, imported laminate woods, mouldings, as well as paint products. Additionally, they will have excellent relationship management skills and the ability to leverage those relationships with our key suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items.
• Estimates values according to knowledge of market price.
• Prepares purchase orders or bid requests.
• Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
• Maintains manual or computerized procurement records; such as services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance and inventories.
• Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
• Must be able to manage budgets and avoid delay costs including shipping.
• Maintains records of business transactions and product inventories, reporting data to companies or government agencies as necessary.
• Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.

Job Requirements:

• 1-3 years of experience as a buyer within the woodworking or furniture industry.
• Demonstrated knowledge of purchasing and contracting techniques and procedures.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
• Certification as a CPM, CSCP, APP, CPPB or CPPO is an asset.
• Thorough knowledge of MS Office Suite software systems and data entry.
• An understanding of the kitchen manufacturing process with a strong knowledge of wood species and sheet goods.
• Estimation skills and the ability to quickly calculate discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and volume.
