Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools has an immediate opening for a Heavy Duty Mechanic in our shop to assist with repair and maintenance of school district vehicles and ancillary equipment. You will apply your current and relevant skills, training, and expertise in the areas of mechanical trades, commercial vehicle transportation and student transport. On occasion this position supports bus driving when additional drivers are needed.

We invite you to bring the following skills, training and experience to the position:

• High school graduation or equivalent
• Successful completion of a BC Truck and Transport Mechanic or Heavy Duty Mechanic Red Seal certification
• Minimum 1 year of related experience at Journeyman level preferred
• Valid BC Class 1 or 2 driver license with Air Brake endorsement
• Current Commercial Vehicle Inspection certificate with class/endorsements 12345 A preferred
