As a Behaviour Interventionist, you will learn how to apply behaviour analysis principles to improve adaptive behaviours among neurodivergent children (e.g., those with autism, ADHD, etc.). You will be trained and mentored by a recent Masters graduate (MPEd) and Behaviour Consultant. Positive-based approaches are individualized for each child to include their interests and way of learning.
This is a temporary summer position (self-employed/contractor) beginning July 3 and ending September 1, 2023 involving 25-30 hours per week at $23-25/hr. Hours are scheduled in accordance to the family's needs and thus will likely be from 9-2 or 9-3. This position is best suited for someone currently studying a Bachelor's in Psychology or a related field or for someone who has experience working with children (preferably with neurodivergent children). Potential for referral to other Behaviour Consultants in the fall to continue working as a Behaviour Interventionist in other settings (center, school, home).
Common duties:
-follow a written behaviour support plan (as trained by the Behaviour Consultant) when supporting children in the community
-play and engage with children on their level to learn their preferences and incorporate them into community sessions
-data collection and organizing of therapy materials
-communicate with parents regarding their child's progress and refer them to the Consultant for any concerns
