Overview:
Assist the Plant Manager in planning, coordination and supervision of the ongoing activities at various GVA plant operations to achieve all targets, budgets, objectives and goals.
Responsibilities:
Safety Culture:
  • Assist the plant manager in promoting the safety culture through engagement with employees, visual leadership, and implementation and maintenance of local and regional initiatives with an objective of “zero” safety incidents. Adhere, administer, and promote safety policies, processes and execute procedures to ensure that the site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and regulatory guidelines.
  • Financial Management: Assist in forecasting and scheduling production to balance inventories and sales needs to manage and minimize working capital impact. Promote a culture of performance and exceeding expected results. Contribute towards accurate forecasting. Adhere to purchasing policies, procedures, and directives. Provide cost-effective solutions for onsite problems.
  • Customer Focus: Assist the plant manager in planning to ensure production meets forecasted demand while serving customers with timely shipping strategies and quality-assured products. Engage with Sales and other stakeholders to provide solution selling.
  • Production Management: Assist the plant manager in the execution of production plans, making adjustments to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s). Employ daily communication process to drive group efficiencies and manage production performance.
  • Labour Management /People Development: Assist the plant manager in the development, motivation, scheduling and training of production personnel to promote customer focus and operational efficiency. Provide leadership for employees by working closely with them on a daily basis. Contribute to development of emerging leaders. Provide effective delegation of tasks with accountability.
  • Land Management/ Community Relations: Assist the plant manager in ensuring that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines. Conduct site operations with minimal negative impact on surrounding environment and communities. Support effective relationships within the community by participating in local activities/events.

  • Safety: Near Miss reporting, MVA’s, FA’s, MI’s, LTI’s, Safety inspections/reports, WAH/Confined Space permits,
  • Risk assessments, JHSC meeting, VFL’s, Traffic management, Adherence to LOTOTO, Policies and procedures
  • Land: Dust and Noise control
  • Labor: Shift Schedules, Incident investigation reporting, Stakeholder relations, Operational efficiency, Staff training/mentoring/evaluating, Production reporting
  • Production: Manufacturing KPI’s, Maintenance management, Daily/weekly/monthly production sheets & meeting,
  • Production planning, Inventory Reconciliation, Downtime reports, Preventative Maintenance Planning,
  • Mobile Equipment Maintenance Preventative Maintenance
  • Customer Focus: Shipping staff/process management, Production plan execution, Product quality assurance
  • Financial: Accurate forecasts, Adherence to purchasing policies and procedures, order taking/placing, generating cost effective business solutions

Qualifications:
  • Recent graduate from a university/college with civil engineering/business degree/diploma
  • Interest in a long-term career in business, engineering, and construction with a goal to pursue
  • One to three years of industry experience.
  • Construction Safety Officer (CSO).
  • Experience with aggregate equipment and processes.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Strong people, analytical, problem solving and project management skills.
  • Able to handle difficult issues in a positive way.
  • Organized self starter.
