About the Opportunity

The Anesthesia Technician is an integral member of the health care team, providing skilled technical assistance perioperatively, while maintaining a safe and aseptic environment through the adherence of safety regulations and standards. This individual is responsible for the preparation, functional operation and check out of all anesthesia equipment and supplies. They are knowledgeable about patient safety and the aspects of its practice in the operating room environment. The Anesthesia Technician will provide services within the Victoria General Hospital and Halifax Infirmary sites within and outside the operating room environment as required. The position requires shift work and services are provided weekdays and weekends.

Additionally, the Anesthesia Technician provides technical assistance to the Anesthesiologists with the application of supplies and monitoring equipment to the patient for all anesthesia procedures, including all hemodynamic monitoring lines, critical care monitors and life support equipment.

Further, the Technician provides a second pair of hands during sterile procedures, adjusting controls and passing supplies into the sterile field, infusing fluids under direct supervision, while maintaining a watchful eye on the anesthesia delivery equipment. This individual is trained to expect the unexpected and react appropriately.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Successful completion of a certificate/diploma program in Anesthesia Technology
  • BLS-C (HCP) is required
  • Ability to communicate effectively with medical professionals is essential
  • Capable of responding to emergency situations providing continuous assistance during stressful procedures
  • Reliable, self-starter capable of independent action
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Five (5) Permanent Full-Time positions; 75 hours biweekly

Compensation and Incentives

$26.98 - $28.93 hourly
