About Us
 
The Sheriffs Branch is dedicated to promoting safe and resilient communities, performing a wide range of activities in collaboration with other law enforcement and policing partners in Alberta. In addition to the Chief, there are six directorates within the Branch: Court and Transport Services (CTS), Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Services (FWES), Investigation Services (IS), Protection and Communication Services (PCS), Operational Support Services (OSS) and Sheriff Highway Patrol Services (SHPS).
Role
 There are up to four AO1 positions available, reporting directly to the Deputy Chief of the assigned directorate. The successful applicants will be responsible for the financial functions of their assigned directorate, including preparing the directorate’s detailed budget forecasts as well as other budgetary/financial management, development and maintenance of administrative/operational processes, policies and procedures, contracts and purchasing and other functions essential to the efficient operations within the assigned directorate(s).
 
The AO1 ensures management within the directorate is provided with timely, accurate and effective support with respect to budget, financial statements and forecast submissions. The position provides advice to managers in relation to the development or improvement of financial procedures within the directorate. The AO1 reports to the Deputy Chief of the assigned directorate and works with the Branch Budget Administrator and other AO1 positions as required.
 
The AO1 will also supervise staff in the Administration Services team.
 
An overview of the main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinating and monitoring budget preparations and tracking of expenditures within guidelines set out by Treasury and Departmental policies to provide timely, consistent and accurate budget information to meet operational requirements.
 - Ensuring administrative processes, policies, and practices are developed and maintained in order to support the business and operational needs of the directorate(s).
 - Participating and contributing to directorate and Branch initiatives and goals through involvement in yearly business planning and strategic planning exercises.
 - Providing, coordinating, and monitoring procurement of supplies and services to meet organization requirements in compliance with administrative practices, direct purchase regulations and procurement card regulations.
 
Qualifications
 Two-year diploma (business administration, accounting, financial reporting etc.) in a related field, plus a minimum of 3 years related experience working with budgets, accounting policies, collective agreements and contracts.
 
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
 - 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Salary
$2,088.33 to $2,716.64 ( bi-weekly $54,505 - $70,904 per year)
Notes
 This position works Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours a week 8:15AM-4:30PM
 
Final candidates will be required to undergo a security clearance.
