We are seeking an experienced Technologist - CAD Designer for our Water and Wastewater Engineering group in either of our Collingwood, Barrie, Bracebridge or Orillia offices.

The successful candidate will be engaged in the design and drafting of the process mechanical components of municipal and private water and wastewater infrastructure projects such as water treatment plants, pumping stations and reservoirs, and wastewater pumping stations, treatment plants and subsurface effluent disposal works. The candidate will frequently work with a multi-disciplinary design and drafting team. Work will include collection of field measurements and technical analysis, preparation of preliminary and final design drawings in AutoCAD, assistance with the preparation of technical specifications and cost estimates, and support with construction contract administration and inspections.

Key Position Requirements:

  • A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology/Technician, or another related program
  • High proficiency in the latest version of AutoCAD software
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in drafting of vertical/complex water and wastewater infrastructure, process flow diagrams and layouts.
  • Mechanical aptitude and good understanding of civil and process mechanical engineering fundamentals, design practices and drawing conventions
  • Team player with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and work independently under minimal supervision
  • Good analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience and proficiency with spreadsheets would be an asset
  • Familiarity with AWWA, ANSI, MECP and OBC design guidelines and codes would be an asset
  • Construction inspection and contract administration experience would be an asset
  • Experience and proficiency with 3D design, building information modelling (BIM) and Plant 3D CAD would be an asset
