Position Title: Driver - Tanklines

Work Location: Nisku

Department: Tanklines Sulphur Division

Title of manager this position reports to: Tanklines Transportation Manager

Work Rotation (if applicable): In an effort to accommodate most driver schedule preferences, Tiger has several rotations to choose from.

WorkDays / Hours: As per Alberta Provincial Hours of Service and Alberta OH&S Regulations.

Purpose of Role: To safely operate a tractor and b-train tank trailers, including loading/unloading at client sites while adhering to the company and client procedures necessary to transport molten sulphur within the boundaries of Alberta.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safe operation of tractor and b-train trailer configuration on various road conditions throughout Alberta including utilization of tire chains when required.
  • Transport, load and unload molten sulphur in safe and professional manner while following Company and site-specific procedures.
  • Perform thorough daily provincial HOS logs and vehicle inspections as per regulations.
  • Accurately complete and submit all company and customer required documents within the required timelines.
  • Report any hazards, infractions, breach of protocols or maintenance issues and submit to Dispatch.
  • Actively participate in tailgate meetings and attend all required safety meetings.
  • Assist the operation with other tasks deemed necessary to meet customer expectations
  • Present yourself and Tiger as the model to which others should follow.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, WORK EXPERIENCE, SKILLS

  • Valid Class 1 or AZ professional driver’s license with air endorsement.
  • Current 5 year commercial driver’s abstract.
  • A minimum 3 years of consecutive b-train experience or 5 years commercial experience
  • 18 Speed experience considered an asset.
  • Safety conscious and understand the importance of safe work practices on and off the road
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills
  • Competent knowledge of NSC regulations including Hours of Service, Vehicle Inspections and Load Securement.
  • Ability to demonstrate how to properly install and take off tire chains.
  • Ability to successfully complete a mask fit test and willingness to work under supplied air if required.
  • Familiar with VHF Two – way radio communication
  • Strong time management skills
  • Basic knowledge of mobile technology, able to send and receive text messages, email and documents as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK CONDITIONS

Physical Requirements

  • Comfortable with heights, including the ability to climb up and down ladders on trailers.
  • Modest physical exertion, pulling, bending, crouching, stooping and lifting + 50 pounds, sitting for extended periods of time.

Working Conditions:

  • Willing to workdays, nights and rotating shifts
  • Exposure to adverse weather and road conditions
  • Working under supplied air.
