The position of Sawmill General Labourer will be within our Galloway Lumber operation, located in Galloway, BC.

This is a causal/ on-call position, with the potential of turning into full-time employment.

Responsibilities

• Manual sorting of various dimensions and lengths of sawn lumber products
  • Training will be provided
• Accurately identify various sawn lumber products
• Daily housekeeping tasks to ensure a safe and clean work zone
• Ongoing quality control checks including inspecting and measuring lumber to ensure product quality specifications are achieved
• High attention to detail with good hand eye coordination
• Lifting, bending, and reaching throughout production shift to sort lumber products
• Work well in a team-based environment

Safety

• Mandatory adherence to all health and safety requirements
• Company provided Personal Protection Equipment must be worn at all times during production shift
• Must have own CSA certified safety-toed boots
• Galloway Lumber Company Ltd. has a Communicable Disease Prevention Plan that is reviewed during the company orientation

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Level 1 or Level 3 First Aid Certification would be considered an asset
• Lumber Manufacturing: Minimum 1 year preferred
• Physically fit
• Must be able to speak, read, and write English
