We have an outstanding opportunity for a Health & Safety Professional to assume a leadership role in coordinating the Health & Safety job fucntions including safety orientation and training of new hires. They have to be a good team player.

As our Safety Coordinator, your role includes:

  • Lead and manage the Health & Safety Program
  • Work in partnership to identify and manage risks and develop safe work practices
  • Monitor, coordinate, and implement effective Health & Safety programs & policies
  • Insure regulatory compliance in all aspects of Health & Safety
  • Deliver all required training to employees, which include “New & Young Worker” training program
  • Investigate accidents/incidents
  • Manage WorkSafeBC related claims in an effective manner, monitor Return to Work (RTW) Programs, maintain a WHMIS Program, which includes training to all employees who work with or near controlled substances
  • Maintain an effective MSDS Program
  • Support the Joint Health & Safety Committee including participation as the Employer Representative
  • Perform regular workplace safety inspections, develop clear action plans and monitor progress
  • Provide safety communication across various business divisions as required
  • Maintain records and statistics for all injuries in the workplace
  • Maintain and coordinate the Emergency Evacuation Plan

Ideal Candidates:

  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety is preferred
  • Prior experience with Disability Management is an asset
  • Previous First Aid experience – Level 2 ticket is an asset
  • Strong understanding of WorkSafeBC, CSA & OSHA regulations
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team setting
  • Sound practical knowledge and experience
  • Strong leadership skills
  • 2 to 3 years working as a Health & Safety Coordinator, preferably in a manufacturing environment
