Work at a water front restaurant with owners that treat you with respect. Explore beatiful Vancouver Island on days off.
We are located on Northern Vancouver Island that hosts some of the best whale and wildlife watching in the world!
We are restarting our restaurant after operating in nearby Telegraph Cove for 16 seasons. Join our hard working and fun team for the summer of 2023! Work the full season (Mid-May to end of September) or join us for 8 – 10 weeks during our peak season. Staff camping potentially available. No experience necessary but kitchen experience is a plus. Start and end dates are not fixed. The whole season stretches from May 18 to September 25. We can work with you to accommodate travel, university or other plans. Free food and drinks on shift. Tips shared between staff on shift.

Staff of the Seahorse Cafe must be flexible. This job entails:
- Taking orders at counter
- Making specialty coffees/smoothies
- Preparing food to order
- Food prep
- Opening and closing duties
- Cooking and serving fish & chips
- Serving alcoholic drinks
Individuals will be trained in all areas of the cafe and will have a lot of independence with some supervision.
Customers include people from around the world who are interested in nature. Alder Bay is a world class eco-tourism destination (which staff can benefit from in their free time). Bring your own trailer or Alder Bay Resort potentially have one for our staff to rent. We gladly take applications from couples (either friends or couple) as it works to share the accommodation that we can provide. There could also potentially be work to be found at Alder Bay Resort.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
- You need to have a Canadian work visa or be a resident of Canada
- Experience is an asset but not a requirement .
- We are interested in all individuals who are positive, self-motivated and enjoy working with a team. The job can be very high tempo during high-season so it’s important to be able to work fast.
- FOODSAFE training will be arranged.
- Alcohol is served (draft beer and cocktails)
