Are you interested in working with youth, while providing various opportunities for the public affordable summer programs and/or special events? Great, keep reading! As a Summer Recreation Junior Leader, you will be working in a fast-paced, creative environment, focused on delivering active, fun, and safe programs for youth.
Recreation Junior Leaders assist with supervised group-based activities for youth between the ages of six and 12 years, from Monday to Friday throughout July and August. These leaders are responsible for assisting with youth activities, games, and the overall supervision of the program participants under the guidance of the Summer Recreation Senior Leaders.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong team players who can work effectively and efficiently with others, or alone with little or no supervision;
- Previous experience working in volunteering with youth is an asset;
- Be punctual, self-motivated, communicate openly, take and give direction well;
- Physical job requirements include occasional lifting of 30 pounds; sitting, walking, and standing for extended periods of time; and working outdoors in potentially inclement weather;
- Minimum 16 years of age;
- Vulnerable Sector Check and Intervention Record Check;
- First Aid/CPR Certificate (training provided if needed);
- Valid Driver’s Abstract.
Full Time • Temporary
Wage: $18.00 per hour
Hours: 8 hours per day, Monday to Thursday, 32 hours per week.
Term: June 29, 2023 to August 25, 2023
Orientation will be held June 29, 2023. Staff must be available to work on this day.
