Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer Co-op May 2023


Smythe LLP (Smythe) is looking for a detailed oriented and keen QA Engineer looking to complete a co-op in 2023, either 4 months or 8 months (preferred). For students in their last year of study, there is a potential for a permanent placement at the end of your co-op term. Our target candidate is a 4th year or new grad from post-secondary computer studies.

The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a self-starter to join the Smythe team and help our Digital Business Services (DBS) team with project initiatives with the company’s adoption of Microsoft Dynamics CE. Our DBS team is transforming how the company works with technology, to better serve our clients. We’re moving from legacy systems to cloud computing, and making changes to take us well into the future.

Your day-to-day

  • Software testing, integration and system testing
  • Create test scripts and programs to facilitate QA tests
  • Continually review and improve the automation testing process and implementation
  • Configure the testing environment to enable product testing, bug reproduction and verification
  • Understanding business requirements and testing complex systems related to the company’s systems
What we’re looking for

  • Working on a post-secondary degree in computer science, or equivalent (4th year preferred)
  • Academic experience with software testing and methodologies. Previous work experience is an asset
  • Understanding of CRM’s
  • Clear and above-par professional communication skills
  • Willingness to collaborate and help audiences with varied degrees of technical expertise
  • To be a self-motivated team player who is able to take initiative
  • Flexibility to work outside the regular work week, as is typical for a System Administrator role

In addition, you will need to

  • Be present in person at your primary office location at least two days a week
  • Work a set schedule for your work week to provide support to the practice groups
  • Be available to provide after-hours support, as is typical for IT-related jobs
