This position is located at our Penhorwood Site which is located approximately 70km west of Timmins towards Foleyet and requires daily travel for scheduled shifts.


JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

The primary function is to support the Canadian Operations with technical knowledge and skills and provide both day to day support as well as lead projects related to all sites.


JOB SCOPE/DIMENSIONS

  • Work directly with various departments and third-party contractors / consultants to ensure that project deliverables are completed within the budget and defined scope.
  • Coordinate with all teams working on the project to ensure that goals are met on time and that each team’s deliverables are compatible with all others.
  • Oversee staff, contract supervisors and contractors to aid them in achieving the overall goal.
  • Design and coordinate plant and/or equipment construction, modification, or overhaul activity in the talc processing and mining facilities.
  • Oversee tailings related projects.
  • Solve problems which require originality and ingenuity using a broad knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of the field.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fully support the location health, safety environmental, and quality (HSEQ) programs by participating in their implementation, maintenance, and enforcement as well as compliance with Corporate programs and policies.
  • Provide project engineering support and guidance for the Canadian Operations on improvements, designs, and changes for various scopes of work and CAPEX projects.
  • Provides technical and project support to all operational departments when required.
  • Oversee and supervise assigned projects in their entirety from preparation to completion.
  • Fully utilize the change management process to minimize and control impacts of proposed changes on assigned projects.
  • Fully support Contractor Management procedures, contractor indoctrination, and supervise third party contractors participating in assigned projects.
  • Support internal and external Engineering teams when required and oversees the implementation or changes related to projects.
  • Define project priorities, objectives, scope, and deliverables in alignment with Magris Talc structure and goals.
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret data required for projects which includes but is not limited to retrieval of quotes, cost control, purchasing, and effective management of budget controls.
  • Prepare and present all required reports on project attributes and timelines to Management and other teams when required.
  • Maintain courteous, professional relationships with Company line and staff functions, employees, outside contractors and governmental agencies.
  • Interact closely with all operations, maintenance, procurement, and engineering for scoping, development, and execution of all projects.
  • Developing Business Improvement Ideas (BIP) & follow-through on their implementation.
  • Actively participate in project ideas and designs that promote safety improvement initiatives.
  • Confer with experts, engineering, contractors, consultants, and technical personnel to resolve problems, unforeseen issues, malfunctions, challenges, or delays.
  • Ensure that all process settings, data, programs, drawings, and reports are backed up and secure.
  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles to assist with investigation of improvement ideas and resolution of problem areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.

OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS

  • Oversee ongoing Tailings Management Project as required.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education and Experience requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in any Engineering discipline required.
  • 1 to 3+ years' experience in the mining industry is preferred.
  • Experience in Project Engineering or Management, either as a Graduate Engineer, EIT or Junior Engineer. in a comparable application.
  • Cross-functional team building experience and Organizational Effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of computer-based systems such as Microsoft office, Excel and any CAD drawing programs such as AutoCAD (or similar software).
  • Experience in Tailings Management would be an asset.

Knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics:

  • Basic understanding of process control concepts (and an ability/desire to further that understanding).
  • Basic understanding of a broad range of equipment types in industrial mills and mining.
  • Knowledge of budgetary and cost/benefit analysis.
  • Shows organizational skills ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with a variety of different personnel.
  • Responsibility and accountability for own behavior, performance, and development, taking ownership for own performance and decisions and their impact on the business.
  • The position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to work with and, on occasion, lead a team.
