Project Accountant

As Project Accountant, you will ensure accurate and timely execution of accounting functions for major projects, including financial and project analysis, budget preparation, application of accounting controls, government reporting and funder accountability. As an expert in your area, you will provide advice and guidance to project managers on a variety of financial matters.

Position Highlights:

· A key member of the Finance team, reporting to the Grants Manager

· Work with project managers and cross-functional project teams to regularly update project financials and monitor project spending

· Prepare financial reports, budgets, and forecasts per funder deadlines

· Prepare schedules to support monthly account reconciliations and project analysis, investigate unusual items as necessary

· Work with project managers to assess procurement, risk and project management financial requirements

· Take ownership of financial areas of specified special projects as part of the continuous improvement initiatives

· Work with project development and implementation teams to foster organizational support for cross-functional initiatives

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree, 3-year college diploma or post-grad certificate in business, accounting, finance, or any related field

· 1+ years finance experience in the private or public sector

· In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and procedures

Keys to Success:

· Expertise in financial project management

· Demonstrated ability to effectively deliver high quality work under pressure

· Demonstrated ability to communicate and work with cross-functional project teams

· Experience in general ledger functions and in creating financial statements

· Skills and experience with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel

· Experience in grant reporting considered an asset

Compensation Highlights:

This is a full-time, three-year contract position, supported by an excellent compensation package:

· Starting salary range $47,300 to $54,000 per year, based on experience

· Annual performance and merit increase consideration
