PRODUCTION PLANNER

Summary:

Assures customer and production requirements are satisfied by performing the following duties;

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
  • Analyses of future production capacity, monitors current production performance against plan, and regularly reports progress and constraints.
  • Generates and issues daily/weekly work orders for all departments in the plant.
  • Strong focus on mitigating delays in the schedule through close partnership with line managers, suppliers, and leadership team.
  • Performs early missing material analysis to ensure jobs are ready-to-build before they hit the production line – mitigate missing items through follow up and collaboration with feeder cells or Purchasing.
  • Create and publish visual, aligned production schedule for the plant to understand daily production requirements at the cellular and assembly level.
  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement and implements appropriate initiatives.
  • Confers with department supervisors to determine status of assigned projects.
  • Leads in the development of productivity improvements within Production and Inventory Control, through process optimization and planning.
  • Monitors supplier delivery performance and initiates corrective actions with the Purchasing Manager as required.
  • Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Assigns effective change dates on Engineering Change Orders, mitigating obsolescence exposure.
  • Prepares production reports using MRP reports/system data.
  • Prepares/maintains order production/delivery schedule.
  • Assist in physical inventory count/reconciliation.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field coupled with five or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Direct experience with hands-on planning within a custom-built, high volume production facility with both internal- and external suppliers.

Computer Skills:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Strong knowledge of ERP systems (Baan, ManManx or MK a plus)

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • CPIM designation or working towards.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Superior communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Detailed oriented and driven to get answers and alignment from various departments: Parts, Engineering, R&D, Production, Purchasing, etc.
  • Ability to break complex production schedules into more manageable sections useable by cell leaders and employees.
  • Strongly accountable to delivering on promises, despite unforeseen circumstances.

Salary: $60,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
