Red Deer Polytechnic is currently inviting applications for multiple positions within the Practical Nurse Program.

Part-time Instructor(s): August 16, 2023 until December 22, 2023

Sessional Instructors: August 16, 2023 until April 29, 2024

Continuous Appointment: Starting August 16, 2023

RDP’s PN program has multiple intakes including day, evening, and weekend clinical, lab, and theory instruction. Faculty may be assigned to instructional workload as required to support program needs.

For the 2023/2024 academic year the Practical Nurse program will be offered in:

• Red Deer
• Drumheller
• Ponoka
• Rocky Mountain House
• Stettler
• Three Hills

You may be assigned instructional workload that requires travel to urban and rural locations in addition to teaching on the RDP campus. Travel and related expenses will be reimbursed according to the Travel and Related Expenses policy.

The Practical Nurse program is a two year diploma that prepares students to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) following graduation and successful completion of the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Exam. It is an approved program by the CLPNA’s Education Standards Advisory Committee.

The Practical Nurse program provides exceptional opportunities to work closely with students, faculty and staff in a supportive environment that promotes innovation, scholarship and commitment to student success. Red Deer Polytechnic offers an excellent professional development program that helps faculty to continuously develop skills, knowledge and expertise specific to teaching and learning as well as their respective discipline.

Responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to):

• Teaching students in classroom, lab, and/or clinical settings with flexibility for both face to face and online course delivery.
• Creating a stimulating, effective, and learner-centered environment.
• Preparing, reviewing and/or updating course material.
• Marking, grading, and evaluation of student work.
• Providing ongoing feedback, guidance, and assistance to students.
• Actively contributing and participating in program planning, curriculum development & review, and project work.
• Actively engaging in scholarly activity.
• Participating in School and College-wide initiatives and/or committees.
• Upholding the Professional Responsibilities of Faculty at RDP which are described within the Faculty Performance Policy.
• Demonstrating and promoting RDP organizational values and following RDP policies and practices.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 4-8 months
Part-time hours: 10-20 per week

Salary: $52,911.00-$102,421.00 per year
