Our Sudbury Operations have been in existence for more than 100 years. With five mines, a mill, a smelter, a refinery and nearly 4,000 employees it is also one of the largest integrated mining complexes in the world. Sudbury is also home to several administrative sites serving both the Ontario Operations as well as all our North Atlantic Operations.

Port Colborne is home to our Nickel Refinery where raw materials from our Sudbury operations are processed into electrocobalt and precious metals and serves as a distribution centre for finished nickel products.

Our Team:

The Maintenance Master Data team is part of Vale’s Asset Management Process team and is integral in maintaining the core maintenance information in our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Members of this team support multiple locations across our North Atlantic Operations and strive for data standardization across the plants. Team members are also involved in problem solving and support functions related to maintenance master data and work closely with the Vale Reliability team as well as end users to identify best practices.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a PM Coordinator to join our team in Sudbury.

The PM Coordinator will provide preventive maintenance coordination support to the Canada / UK mines and surface plants in the area of work management.

This role reports directly to the Master Data Supervisor, and the incumbent works collaboratively with a team of PM Coordinators to provide central support to our North Atlantic Operations.

Accountabilities

In this position you will:

  • Follow Safety Plan developed for department.
  • Input the information provided from the Plant for the schedule of the preventive and predictive maintenance program.
  • Make the necessary changes to the P.M. program, e.g., inspection frequency, for select pieces of equipment as determined by the Plant.
  • Maintain a filing system to allow storing and auditing of historical records.
  • Review P.M. inspections and related Task Lists.
  • Create and Maintain BOM’s, Equipment, Functional Locations, Standard Text, PM Assembly Materials, Maintenance Plans, Measuring points, Task Lists, PRTs and work centers inside of SAP.
  • Occasional closing and TECO of YPM type work orders
  • Provide ad hoc maintenance reporting for the purpose of analysis, e.g. Missed Inspections, Last Meter Reading, Deadline Monitoring.
  • Occasional requisitioning and input of service entry sheets for Services and Materials
  • Provide advice to plant personnel as required in the use of the ERP and established processes and protocols.
  • Make recommendations to supervisor for process improvements.

Qualifications and Specific Skills:

Education: The successful candidate will possess a post-secondary study in a Maintenance or Technical related field .

Experience: The ideal candidate will have direct experience in maintenance administration with preventive and predictive maintenance programs and those who possess a general knowledge of production and service equipment are desirable. This would include candidates whom possess previous experience in a related Vale role, those whom have provided temporary coverage for the role, or those whom have received prior PM Coordinator training.

Computer Skills: Comprehensive knowledge and experience using various internal Vale systems such as: SAP (planner/supervisor &/or crew member), Business Objects, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Peoplesoft.

Other Skills Required:

  • Comprehensive understanding of SAP Maintenance Modules and the Asset Management / Work Management System
  • Numeric Logic (includes proficiency in excel, interpretation of statistical data, basic mathematical concepts)
  • Understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance
