Facilities Decommissioning & Environmental Remediation (FD&ER) is responsible for the execution of all activities associated with the Decommissioning of facilities that have been transferred to FD at CRL, Gentilly-1 and Douglas Point.

The Work Planning Coordinator reports to the Site Transition Section Head, and is responsible for overall project control and reporting of services provided.

The Work Planning Coordinator supports the Site Transition Section Head and the Site Transition Manager to ensure that the decommissioning work and related analyses are properly updated in a project reporting database, providing effective project control and reporting, advising trends from key project performance indicators, developing of metrics, resource loading, and related department performance information.

What will you be doing!
The Work Planning Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Site Transition function provided to FD&ER. Key activities include:
  • Ensure safety is paramount in all activities.
  • Assists in the management of project control and reporting of individual FD&ER Site Transition tasks and the program as a whole.
  • Assists the Section Head and the Manager in the provision of oversight of the writing work provided by external agencies to ensure technical quality, budget, schedule and management of scope changes.
  • Manages the distribution and administration of the Review process for planning deliverables generated by external agencies.
  • Monitoring and reporting on project/portfolio compliance and progress. This includes providing audit support of all elements, including standards.
  • Providing support and assistance to the Site Transition team to ensure effective and timely project execution.
  • Undertaking administration of various items on an as needed basis (e.g. Procurement (Make/Buy) & Contract Management). Manage information and ensure that accurate and sufficient documentation exists.
  • Providing strategic support to department staff in development and implementation of processes, procedures, and working instruction to support operations and activities.
  • Interacting with a diverse group of CNL staff (i.e. Directors, Managers, Program Authorities, Decommissioning & Environmental Specialists, Program Managers and Project Managers).
  • Support management in leading annual operational planning including development of operational plans/planning documents and scorecards.
  • Participating in the creation of processes for the Site Transition department.
  • Periodically reviewing requirements, processes and standards to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned by one’s manager.
What we are looking for!

Graduation from an institute of technology with a minimum of five years progressively responsible experience during which time the incumbent should have demonstrated the ability to assume responsibility as described above.
OR
Successful completion of Secondary School and a minimum of five (5) years pertinent experience plus three (3) years demonstrated experience in a leadership position which time the incumbent should have demonstrated the technical ability to assume responsibilities as described above.
  • Competence and successful experience in planning, auditing, procurement, and reporting within a team environment.
  • Candidates must have demonstrated experience in working with multi-disciplinary subjects/topics involving organizing, planning, coordinating, assessing, analysing and presenting information and ideas.
  • Knowledge of CNL decommissioning and remediation processes and procedures such as Contracts and Contractor Management, Oversight of External Agencies and Engineering Change Control.
  • Experience in MS Project, MS Planner, MS Excel
  • Experience in developing and writing business plans, reports, presentation packages, graphs, and briefing notes.
  • Experience with decommissioning and environmental remediation an asset.
  • Highly self-motivated and team player. Comfortable performing duties based on broad general direction and minimal oversight and willing to work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to work effectively with personnel of varying disciplines in order manage relationships with other CNL Departments.
  • Experience with waste management operations would be an asset

Location:
  • This role is based out of CNL’s Chalk River location, which will be the designated workplace. CNL may require you to travel from time to time, as necessary.
