Through the collaborative efforts of the Peel Human Trafficking Service Provider Committee (PHTSPC) and the Region of Peel, Peel has opened an integrated service HUB for victims and survivors of sexual exploitation. The goal is to improve access to services and supports for victims and survivors in one safe location.


Position Profile:

The nCourage Client Navigator is responsible for acting as the point of first contact for potential clients and community service providers. The Client Navigator conducts triage, intake, screening and assessments; provides intervention, short-term counselling and advocacy to individuals, and families, and makes appropriate referrals to community services.



The incumbent also establishes and maintains a relationship with service partners and referral sources.


The Client Navigator is responsible for conducting virtual and in-person outreach activities.


Responsibilities:

  • Complete intake, and assessment to determine client needs, and interests.
  • Support the implementation of the next steps for care.
  • Keep careful and accurate records and maintain client case files of all relevant information pertaining to the assigned caseload, via the designated database.
  • Conduct therapeutic, trauma-informed risk assessment and safety planning.
  • Support identifying the client’s needs, and desired referrals to on-site and off-site partners for service, in coordination with the case managers.
  • Coordinate with case managers to support the continuum of care and access to services
  • Coordinate and develop the onsite calendar of service partners for clients and manage appointments at the hub.
  • Address all inquiries regarding services and support.
  • Track and complete monthly data and statistical reports based on funding
  • Participate in care conferencing and consultations with the nCourage team, and/or service providers.
  • Consult and report any risk concerns to appropriate agencies.
  • Provide case management as assigned.
  • Provide support with the intake process to service providers in the community, and promote awareness and understanding of the program and services offered at
  • Represent the agency at internal and external committees as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, or related human service field, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience with victims of human trafficking.
  • Demonstrated knowledge about human trafficking, gender-based violence, experience working with victims and survivors of human trafficking, and trauma.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of counselling, social work, and case management.
  • Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment with co-workers, community providers and stakeholders and clients.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (French, as well as other languages, are an asset).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and working knowledge of database management.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check that meets the standards of Our Place Peel
  • A valid Ontario Driver’s License, access to a vehicle and $2,000,000 (minimum) liability car insurance coverage is mandatory
  • Valid CPI/ UMAB and First Aid/ CPR certifications
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, subject to applicable legislation
