Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Child Care & Youth Programs, the Manager of Youth Programs will develop, promote, implement and evaluate a range of youth programs that are relevant, inclusive and of the highest quality.

The Manager will play a leadership role in developing new and sustainable programs, as well as form strategic partnerships at the local, provincial and national level.

Duties

  • Manage a wide range of current youth programs (basketball, gymnastics, karate, etc.)
  • Manage Sport Camps during the summer months, working alongside of child care
  • Develop new youth programs that align with community needs
  • Recruit, hire and manage youth staff and volunteers
  • Train new staff and volunteers
  • Establish a YMCA community presence as the Manager of Youth Programs
  • Develop strategic partnerships at local, provincial and national level
  • Models appropriate behaviors in line with the YMCA of Fredericton’s mission, vision and values; establishes rapport and maintains effective relationship with staff, volunteers and members
  • Management of annual budget for the youth department
  • Day to day administrative duties
  • Assist with program promotion–social media, publications & special events
  • Collaborate with outside organizations on projects
  • Scheduling of gym times and special events
  • Perform other related duties as required
  • Managers are encouraged to participate in professional development related to their role throughout their employment with the YMCA of Fredericton

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree and 2 years related experience
  • Minimum two years’ human resource experience including supervision of staff and volunteers
  • Experience managing and knowledge of basketball programming considered a strong asset
  • Sporting and/or coaching background preferred
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Above average computer skills (e.g. Excel, Word, ActiveNet)
  • Self-motivated, self-directed team player
  • Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills
  • Proven communication skills both verbal and written
  • Employment is contingent on having a clean Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Social Development check
  • Able to work flexible hours–evenings and weekends as needed
