Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a Talent Management Associate.


The Talent Management Associate will play a critical role in helping support the future growth and development of the organization through the administrative and coordination tasks required for maintaining Irving Shipbuilding’s Talent Management programs.


This role is responsible for supporting overall training effectiveness through optimizing our Learning & Development systems, maintaining training records for all employees, and compiling reports and metrics. This individual will be the first point of contact for general learning and development inquiries and be responsible for all related registration, information, and coordination.


This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, Adult Education, or related field
  • Experience: 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources
  • Dedicated experience supporting Talent Management strategies preferred
  • Experience with data analytics preferred
  • Experience working with Excel, Tableau and/ or Power BI considered an asset

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports the delivery of Talent Management programs across the organization by coordinating and executing program logistics, organizing necessary materials, and managing facility support
  • Prepares and maintains Talent Management records, including program evaluations, attendance records, and learning schedules
  • Coordinates the organization’s performance development process (CheckIn); working with the JDI Talent CoE, the Business, and the HRBP's to drive a favorable employee experience
  • Coordinates the implementation and adoption of the Organizational Learning Management System(s) - HCM Learning & Skillsoft’s Percipio Platform; working closely with JDI Talent CoE, Business Users, and HRBP's as necessary
  • Responsible for gathering metrics, analysis and visual analytics related to Talent Management programs and initiatives that are used for stewardship reporting, progress check ins and decision making
  • Liaises with multiple learning partners, including managers, Human Resources team, and training vendors to support organization training requests
  • Supports the Talent Management team by maintaining the learning budget, including the organization of invoices, reconciling costs, sending finance requests, and distributing charges to the appropriate department
  • Advising staff on training policies and procedures including resolving or supporting the resolution of problems related to the operation of the learning and development team
  • Managing the ISI training calendar ensuring full completion within targeted timescales and providing timely and accurate updates to people services partners and senior leaders (as required)
  • Preparing staff communications related to Learning and Development activities and announcements
