Our boutique law firm in downtown Kitchener, practicing exclusively in plaintiff personal injury, is looking for a legal assistant to join our team on a contract basis. Join our team with this entry-level position helping our legal assistants with production requests, undertakings, medical brief maintenance, maintaining digital filing and more!

Type: Contract, six months. Opportunity to become full-time after contract lapses. Flexible work schedule (TBD) with opportunity to do some remote work (hybrid position) after probation and training; 37.5 hours a week.

Benefits: vacation time, sick time, appointment time, group health benefits, parking as a taxable benefit and quarterly social events.

Training: one-to-one training for two to three days with supervision as needed thereafter.

Remuneration: commensurate with experience, $17.00 - $21.00 per hour.

Tasks include:

  • Drafting correspondence and legal documents as directed by legal assistants.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, coworkers, and other representatives in a professional manner by phone, in writing, via video (zoom or similar) or in person.
  • Responsible for clerical, administrative and general office duties.
  • Organize and expedite flow of work.
  • Maintaining multiple calendars and scheduling.
  • Client file maintenance including, but not limited to requesting productions, undertakings, building medical briefs, filing physical and digital communication and productions.
  • Opening and closing files.
  • Working with a team of assistants to ensure tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Using Primafact, Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook and PC Law to maintain client files.
  • Any similar tasks that may be assigned to you.

  • PC Law: experience an asset.
  • Primafact: experience an asset.
  • Microsoft Office Suite: experience required.
  • Adobe: experience required.

Education:

- Law Clerk Program (College Level); or

- College Diploma in office administration, medical office, and/or,

- University Degree
