Real Estate Services Branch represents the Manitoba Government in its land dealings with the public, striving to conduct the government's real estate business in a manner that is fair, open and transparent, timely and professional, and fiscally and environmentally responsible.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Class 5 Driver’s Licence and able to travel throughout the province as required
  • Ability to provide and maintain a Criminal Record Check
  • Physical ability to traverse difficult terrain to inspect remote portions of properties
  • Ability to obtain Commissioner of Oaths within 3 months of employment

Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Education in a related discipline, appraisal, surveying, planning, real estate or diploma/certificate in a related discipline or International Right of Way Association (IRWA) Courses or related experience in real estate valuation, acquisition or a related field. A suitable combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience in Real Estate valuation or negotiation or a related field such as planning, surveying, real estate agent, law, appraisal.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to present clearly information to senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet competing deadlines.
  • Strong written communication skills with experience preparing and review legal contractual documentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical skills, including a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Duties:
Under the direction of the Manager of Right-of-Way Acquisitions, the incumbent assists in the valuation and acquisition of property. Additional key responsibilities includes:

  • Performs advanced research including title searches, assessment searches, comparable sales analysis, investigating costs of other improvements.
  • Negotiates to secure acquisition of property as required by client departments.
  • Prepares a variety of legally binding documents for execution by landowners and other interested parties.
