Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of the plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systems.
  • Install, repair, and maintain domestic and commercial plumbing fixtures and systems.
  • Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes and fixtures in walls and floors.
  • Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings.
  • Measure, cut, bend and thread pipes using hand and power tools or machines.
  • Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or soldering, brazing, and welding equipment.
  • Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges.
  • Assist with material handling.
  • Always maintain a clean working area, and perform housekeeping duties on site.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Journeyman Plumber or Plumbing Red Seal certificate.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 - 3 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work.
  • Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and make simple calculations to read survey stakes and calculate areas and volumes.
  • Skilled in the use and care of hand and small power tools associated with the work.
  • Ability to understand and interpret plans & specifications.
  • Desire to coach, train and assist the crew with completing quality work.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with multiple team members and interpret their needs.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand and/or be on their feet 10-12 hours/day.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Use proper lifting techniques for heavy pipes weighing more than 25 kilograms.
  • Must be able to work in outdoor weather and/or unregulated temperatures for 10-12 hours/day.
