Calgary Housing Company (CHC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the City of Calgary. We are transforming to support resident success, modernize our business, and contribute to creating diverse, inclusive communities. The Housing Administrator will be an important contributor to help us reach our ambitious vision to be the best – for our residents, our employees, and our city. Primary duties include:
  • Support the day-to-day management of Social, Affordable and Low-End of Market housing within Calgary Housing Company.
  • Conduct Annual Rent Review (ARR) to assess ongoing eligibility for programs and work with the Property Manager on those who are no longer eligible to support successful transitions.
  • Assist with set up of new lease for households moving into a CHC managed unit and prepare lease via DocuSign.
  • Review and process requests for rent adjustment or changes to occupancy.
  • Apply and notify tenants of the new rent amount and update CHC’s information management systems.
  • Assist with scheduling unit showings as required/requested by the Property Manager.
  • Analyze various forms of income or financial information.
  • Reconcile tenant rent accounts as required for ARR processing, tenant inquiry or for legal purposes.
  • Provide high level customer service, resolve tenant related issues, and maintain a tracking system to follow up with tenants on outstanding information.
  • Act as a Commissioner of Oaths and prepare legal documents such as arrears letters and eviction notices for the Property Manager.
  • May be required to perform some duties at a building site office or a residential unit.
Qualifications
  • A High School diploma or equivalency (e.g. GED) and at least 3 years of experience in a fast-paced, high volume customer service environment.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Commissioner of Oath appointment.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits, or Graduated Driver's License (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits, no current suspensions or charges pending, and use of a personal vehicle for business.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations and diverse communities and experience working in a government setting or regulated environment is preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and experience with Yardi will be considered an asset.
  • De-escalation training, Conflict Resolution and Mental Health First Aid, and training and experience in accounting or financial analysis will be an asset.
  • Work experience with the Social Housing Accommodation Regulations (SHAR) and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) legislation will also be considered assets.
  • Success in this position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with a strong customer focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze documents, problem solve, multitask, and prioritize a heavy workload with stringent deadlines.

Compensation: Pay Grade 7 $33.33 - 44.60 per hour

Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.


Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
