Thompson Construction Group has an immediate opening for a Heavy Equipment Maintenance Supervisor at Poplar Creek located 20 minutes Fort McMurray.

Responsibilities:

  • Know what equipment is on site at all times; whether active, available or in state of repair
  • Stay in constant contact with superintendents, construction managers and mechanics to forecast change and communicate improvements that can be made with personnel or equipment
  • Regularly check on the utilization of equipment before and after repairs
  • Manage on-site heavy-duty mechanics, welders, and servicemen
  • Liaise with operations for maintenance planning to prioritize, schedule and resource all required trade support and turnaround work
  • Coordinating heavy equipment maintenance activities in conjunction with operational requirements in a cost-effective manner
  • Establish and communicate strategies for improving heavy equipment maintenance performance
  • Provide technical/operational input into Maintenance procedures and systems
  • Ensure compliance and enforcement of corporate health and safety policies and procedures
  • Manage recruitment and selection for field heavy duty mechanics, welders, and servicemen
  • Maintain document control/submission of trade apprenticeship documentation
  • Organize and mentor all aspects of service, including fuel and lube, mechanics, and welders.
  • Review and verify all invoices related to all equipment maintenance
  • Be aware of all policy and warranty issues

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience with heavy equipment, heavy duty mechanics, welders and service personnel
  • Minimum of 10 years in Maintenance and Repair as it applies to Heavy Civil Earthworks and/or Mining Industry
  • Possess a valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to work in the Ft McMurray area and work 5 days on / 2 days off
  • Fort McMurray locals will be preffered
  • CSTS/OSSA, BSO or CSO Certification
  • Must be in good health and physical condition to perform duties assigned
  • Must be able to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test
