Tula is currently looking for a Controller to join our team. The successful candidate will be part of an outstanding distributed organization. Roles & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for internal and external financial reporting.
  • Analyzes financial data to assist various levels of management in their decision-making.
  • Responsible for systems implementations and enforcement of internal & process controls.
  • Leads the annual budget process in conjunction with various levels of management.
  • Leads year-end audit process.
  • Oversees external reporting to Provincial and Federal government bodies.
  • Embraces technology and automation to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of the finance function.
  • Helps manage collaborative activities with regional and national partners, government agencies, and universities.
  • Leads the project budget and reporting process and liaises with the CFO & research team leads on variances and or other issues.
  • Works collaboratively to establish roles and responsibilities and identify resources required by the team.
  • Provides leadership and technical expertise toward the strategic direction of the financial reporting function.
  • Contributes to a culture of innovation, teamwork, and agility.
  • Performs other financial analyses and duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) plus a minimum of 5 years experience in financial reporting & management role
  • Considerable knowledge of accounting principles and practices for Canadian Charities
  • Proficiency in Office 365 and G-Suite applications
  • Strategic and creative thinker with a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Self-starter who enjoys proactively generating, evaluating, and implementing new ideas and making recommendations.
  • Comfortable with big-picture thinking balanced with accurate attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to successfully address and resolve conflict.
  • High comfort level with change and experience using best practice change management frameworks.
  • Passion for technology and automation, experience collaborating on major financial software projects preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member with minimum supervision.
  • Demonstrated leadership and advisory skills.

Salary: $85,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
