As the Finance and Accounting Coordinator at Maple Leaf Homes, you will be responsible for supporting the Controller with various Payroll and Finance operations. You will need to apply your finance, accounting, and payroll experience with a keen understanding of deadlines, accuracy and dedication. Familiarity with accounting and payroll software, MS Office along with leadership qualities will bring success in the role.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education, university, college, or certification with relevance to the position
  • 3-5 years of accounting, finance, and payroll experience
  • Enrollment with the Canadian Payroll association or CPA considered an asset.
  • Fluent verbal and written communication skills
  • Leadership qualities with a broad scope of capabilities relating to payroll and accounting.
  • Must be able to handle confidential information in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving for process efficiencies.
  • Excellent attention to detail, process orientated and ability to work collaboratively and independently.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain and update employee information, such as records of employee attendance, overtime, benefits, etc.
  • Prepare and administer payroll for company employees in a timely manner, while auditing payroll processing reports for accuracy.
  • Prepare and verify pay statements for employees, indicating gross and net salaries along with deductions of taxes, insurance, etc.
  • Prepare payroll related filings and supporting documentation, such as year end tax statements and Records of Employment.
  • Journal entry preparation, reconciliations, and various other accounting functions.
  • Compile, review and monitor reports, statements and summaries related to pay, accounting and benefits accounts.
  • Collaborate with the HR department and other departments to ensure pay and personnel records are accurate and up to date.
  • Communication with a variety of internal and external parties for the purpose of ensuring accuracy.
  • Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Assist Controller in other financial and accounting areas as required.
