Seeking a new and challenging opportunity to further enhance your career? Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant. The Research Assistant will work as an integral part of a team out of Saskatoon, SK that is committed to developing high yielding, disease resistant canola, corn, and soybean varieties. Existing experience in a plant breeding organization is an asset. Equipment experience is an asset, training will be provided to meet specific standards. This position is a contract position and will run 4-6 months in duration, starting around May 1, 2023.

Position Overview

Become a key member of the team willing to collaborate with peers for the program success of canola, corn, soybean and wheat research sites across SK. Be involved in or lead in the following areas for research field sites:

• Pre-seed land preparation activities, seeding, spraying, plot maintenance, plot evaluation, harvest, and post-harvest activities
• Be prepared to travel to research sites across SK on a daily basis for required plot scouting and maintenance activities
• Participate in identification of pests, diseases, or environmental problems relating to the plots
• Contribute to in-season data collection and seed processing activities
• Follow field sanitation protocols

Qualifications

• Applicants must be completing an Undergrad Degree or Diploma in Agricultural Science or related field
• Class 5 Drivers license is required
• A fast learner, with a high aptitude for precision and accuracy
• Must be highly motivated and well suited for work in both team-orientated and independent situations
• Must be safety orientated
