POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Environmental Services Supervisor, the Environmental Services Worker supports the
Environmental Services department in various cleaning & disinfecting duties. These include cleaning & disinfecting equipment, cleaning of all clinical, public & support areas of the facility, project cleaning, distribution & collection of linens, collection of waste materials and recycling.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• Secondary School Diploma
• Ability to follow written and verbal job instructions and meet strict timelines
• Ability to carry out correct lifting and carrying techniques (to be tested)
• Willingness and ability to complete of Code White Training
• Ability to process own computer based work orders and email
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Availability to work all shifts including weekends
• Ability to wear appropriate footwear and personal protective equipment
• Respond to all GBHS contingency codes
• Recent satisfactory attendance and performance record
• Adherence to GBHS ‘CARE’ Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and ‘LEAD’ Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others) and a commitment to a safe workplace free of violence and harassment
• Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at GBHS through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes
