The Opportunity

Reporting to the Team Lead, International Admissions and Enrollment, the incumbent provides support and carries out strategic directions established by the Leadership team. The International Enrolment Specialist is a all-in-one solution to support and enable the International Centre to administer core international admissions functions within the International Centre.

In conjunction with the Team Lead, International Admissions and Enrollment, the incumbent is responsible for actioning International Centre enrollment management tasks, such as making offers, deferring students. In alignment with International Centre business priorities and goals, this role has access to Banner and Vas systems and authority to quickly make admission, cancellation, and deferral decisions.

The International Enrolment Specialist manages individual responsibilities and priorities, in conjunction with overall departmental goals and priorities while adhering to SAIT approved policies and procedures. The incumbent will work closely with the Team Lead, International Admissions and Enrollment and International Centre Leadership to expand international student enrollments within reasonable industry timeframes. The individual in this position must work both independently as well as in a team setting with a shared and collaborative attitude.

The Role


      International Admissions
    • Review of application dashboard (daily)
    • Support coordination of foreign documents assessment
    • Ensures international admission decisions for concurrent applications cycles are handled effectively
    • QC run application Quick Flow process for data checking of Banner fields.
    • Assign Decision /or update status
    • Tuition deposit by the due date – if deposit not paid by due day, offer removed
    • Updating, creation and distribution of offer and confirmation letters
    • Deferrals and associated activities
    • Ensures sait.ca reflects approved international admission requirements and information
    • Monitor the flow of international information from VAS to Banner
    • Validation Check: Check name, address, citizenship, demographic, GOA International, nation of application, SOASUPL > SAAADMS, u/d cohort
    • Support implementation of international cancellations and related refunds

    • Project Coordination of International Admissions and Enrollment Management Initiatives
    • Ensure International Centre competitiveness vis-a-vis competitors by driving IC operational efficiencies (admissions, waitlists etc.) across the institute;
    • Indirect-oversight of enrollment management tasks across International Centre portfolio - Schedule and assign work for the team
    • Provide guidance and assessments of workflow/processes within the department and identify opportunities to improve efficiencies;
    • Liaise with external partners (E.g. Worldwide Edu-Connect) to increase business development opportunities (cohort models, faster processing, blended pathways, short-term programs etc.)
    • In collaboration with the Team Lead, International Admissions and Enrollment, establish the application, enrollment management and priorities and targets to support departmental and institutional priorities;
    • Analyze results of international admissions and enrollment key performance indicators and identify opportunities for improvement;
    • Develop and manage international student risk management system (and integrate into SAIT systems)
    • Ensures policies/procedures are upheld, and changes are implemented effectively.
    • In collaboration with the Team Lead, International Admissions and Enrolment, establish operational excellence priorities and international enrollment targets to support departmental and institutional priorities;
    • Participates in the development and implementation of communication strategies and tactics related to the admission cycle;
    • Develop and plan the delivery of international enrollment management training opportunities for staff.
    • Develop admission and enrollment management communication plans for students and agents;
    • Review international student enrollment for forthcoming terms and identify trends, challenges and opportunities (bi-weekly), as well as provide concomitant recommendations;
    • Identify opportunities to prioritize applications based on external data inputs (government processing times, local country conditions, geo-politics etc.)

    • Enrollment Management and Reporting
    • Support Coordination delivery of international admission applications, including ensuring they are set up and open for applicants to apply – including "application start" information
    • Support SEM and Curriculum team to ensure international enrolment targets are accurate and up-to-date
    • Ensure international enrolment targets are received and updated in Argos/VAS reports.
    • Support the smooth delivery of the international application process from the point of application to completed application submission by Applicants or Agents
    • Participate in the development and implementation of communication strategies and tactics related to the international application cycle
    • support coordinates of daily operations of the EM & Application services contact centre and customer service through FreshDesk
    • Support the delivery of customer-centric service to applicants
    • Coordinates with schools and other units on international application processing and enrolment
    • Answers email inquiries from faculty advisors

Qualifications & Experience

    • Post-secondary diploma or degree, preferably in International Relations, International Communications, International Business, etc.
    • Minimum of 3-4 years of directly related experience in International Education and international Admissions, in a post-secondary setting.
    • Demonstrated creativity and originality in exploring and implementing process improvements to increase efficiencies and effectiveness.
    • Experience with project management would be considered an asset
    • Ability to foster successful relationships with leadership, faculty and staff
    • Knowledge of the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) international student program.
    • RISIA certification or RCIC would be considered an asset.
    • Able to work hours as dictated by project demands and deadlines
    • Effective communication skills, Problem-solving skills, intercultural competence, project and time management, adaptability to change, supervisory, empathy and compassion, relationship building skills, data analysis and process improvement
