The Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) and Region of Waterloo (ROW), the “Organizations”, are embarking on a partnership to implement a shared Human Experience Management (HXM) solution. As the Organizations endeavor to deliver the best service possible to their communities, this new HXM solution will provide enhanced strategic value by introducing modern business practices, replacing outdated systems, and enabling a world-class user experience.


The Organizations have partnered with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) for implementation and the contracted solution is the SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite (cloud-based).


With more than 1000 sworn and civilian members, the Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) requires a temporary full-time Database Integration Specialist (18 month contract) to support the HXM Project. The WRPS delivers exceptional police services to more than 575,000 residents. As the Database Integration Specialist…


You Will:


  • Be responsible for data management, data transformation and data conversion in the implementation of the Human Experience Management system;
  • Analyze, manage and troubleshoot the database and data dictionaries;
  • Review the database management standards and the database layout. Collaborate with the project team to extract data from the current system and import into the new system;
  • Work with large, complex data sets to solve difficult, non-routine analysis problems. Conduct analysis that includes data gathering and requirements specification, processing, ongoing deliverables. Present the findings to the project team;
  • Create and maintain documentation of the application as it relates to the database;
  • Collaborate with the Vendor’s database administrators to identify database issues and provide solutions;
  • Provide input into the conception, design, implementation of interfaces and integration, and system configuration;
  • Collaborate with the Information Technology Branch on the development and maintenance of in-house applications that interfaces with the HXM system;
  • Participate in the integration and data conversion workshops;
  • Collaborate with existing legacy system experts (i.e., the Region, Information Technology Branch). Work with the Vendor and other project team members to implement various tools to manage integration requirements;
  • Identify challenges and provide recommendations and resolutions to the Supervisor;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned; and


You Have:


  • Successful completion of a three-year community college diploma in Computer Science, Computer Systems Technology or related field;
  • Three (3) years of previous experience with database administration and creating and managing databases in various environments (e.g., Cloud, On-Premise). Experience working with relational database concepts, architecture and database server processes;
  • Experience using software development methodologies and tools, knowledge of relational database management systems in Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL and API methodologies;
  • Previous experience with data mapping, data transformation, data quality and cleansing using ETL tools, such as SSIS, FME, etc.;
  • Experience using reporting and business intelligence technologies, such as Power BI, Crystal Reports, and Microsoft Visual Studio Reporting Services;
  • Previous experience working with Human Resource Information systems, payroll, time and attendance tracking systems, or other related systems is required. Previous experience working with data in a Human experience Management (HXM) environment is preferred;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project and Word;
  • Previous experience working in municipal or public sector workplaces, with union and non-union team members is preferred;
  • Exceptional comprehension, focus and attention to detail are required to capture detail when entering information into systems or analyzing information from multiple sources;
  • Analytical skills and problem-solving skills to identify process inefficiencies and areas of optimization, develop solutions and make recommendations in process design and system implementation;
  • Demonstrated professionalism and conflict resolutions skills required to interact with a variety of stakeholders;
  • Presentation skills in order to deliver findings to the project team; and
  • A valid Class “G” Driver’s License with no more than six (6) demerit points required to travel within and outside the Region;

  • Ability to elicit information from stakeholders to assist in the integration of systems;
  • Able to acquire knowledge of WRPS policies, procedures, collective agreements, system configuration requirements and limitations;
  • Able to problem solve and recommend changes to current processes, systems, and procedures;
  • Able to meet the testing and police security requirements and to maintain confidentiality; and
  • Able to participate as an effective team member and to support and project values compatible with the organization.
