The Ministry of Environment Communication and Client Service Branch is seeking a creative, energetic and motivated Communications Consultant for our internal communications file.

In this dynamic and rewarding position, you will work in a diverse and fast-paced environment with a demanding workload. We are looking for a creative thinker who can dive headlong into the challenge of our Internal Communications portfolio.

To be successful in this position, you will have knowledge of procedures and standards for effective internal communication on a variety of platforms, including writing for the internet. You will also have knowledge of written communication principles, demonstrating the ability to convey clear and accurate information on complex issues and programs in a manner appropriate for the audience, video and multi-media production, and methods and techniques for providing informative, engaging and relevant internal communications outputs. You will have knowledge adhering to visual identity standards and approvals processes; and an understanding of issues and matters relevant to the Ministry of Environment would be a significant asset.

You will take a lead role in creating and implementing communications plans that support the ministry’s internal communications activities. You will also manage the Ministry’s internal communications tools, ensuring they are being used strategically and effectively. You will also support the development and lead the rollout of the Ministry’s internal communications strategy including membership and engagement in various culture and wellness committees. You will support the execution of the Ministry’s culture and engagement programs including employee forums and all staff meetings; and other development programs and initiatives, as required. You will also lead research and analysis efforts, including the distribution and results review for employee engagement surveys; facilitation of feedback and data gathering tools and activities; and development of materials that share recommendations and action plans based on data.

The successful candidate will have clear and effective written and verbal communication; the ability to write and speak for influence. You will have the ability to motivate and inspire others with your creative approach to your work. You will have experience related to culture, diversity and inclusion would be an asset. You will also be well-organized and attentive to detail to meet tight deadlines, manage interruptions and overcome changing priorities. You will have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to research, develop, edit and distribute engaging internal communication pieces that help tell the story of the work we do. Photography, production and graphic design experience would be an asset.

Typically, the knowledge and abilities required for this position would be obtained by the completion of a university degree and subsequent government experience. A combination of education in a comparable field and experience may also be considered.
